Jemima Evans
Jemima Evans is an artist whose work centres around the role of women in art and media, specifically looking at how art can be created to empower those whose bodies have historically been used without consent to enforce societal standards upon them. With great levels of interest in how we interact with art and how it can be used to impact both individuals and wider society.
This project explores how women’s bodies have been typically used in erotic art, and more recently in pornography, for the pleasure of men and not themselves. And aims to answer the question, can you make feminist erotic art? Or will it always be seen through the lens of the patriarchy? This body of work is a safe place for women to explore their own sexualities and experience erotic art from their perspective, allowing women to see themselves and their desires reflected where traditionally it is not.
