Izabella Vallaincourt
I’m a visual artist working primarily with analogue photographic processes to explore narratives of domesticity, selfhood, hereditary traits and intergenerational issues. My lived experience is central to my practice, which is deeply introspective in nature and informed by research.
Eaten by Moths is the meeting place for my inner and outer worlds - a physical manifestation of the internal and intangible. I find myself observing my environment, wondering if the walls around me have absorbed my fear. Over time, the work has become increasingly collaborative between myself and my domestic space; adopting an organic approach to making images that requires me to listen when the walls are speaking.
